Umbria: itineraries
of the history and art
Umbria is a great cultural source, an active region made
of remembrances, where an open community is living which
loves its history and origins, taking care and enriching
the spaces it is inhabited.
The
historic centres, from the smallest to the largest ones,
are rare jewels, open books where one can read with the
eyes and the heart small stories or the acts of the great
bishops and of the audacious condottieri, where one can
listen with all the senses the echoes of a millenary culture,
of a discrete love and enlightened by the own land and the
memory it is preserving.
The testimonies are multiple: Perugia with its imposing
works such as the Palazzo dei Priori and the amazing Fontana
Maggiore;
Gubbio
with the splendid Palazzo dei Consoli. The Cathedral of
Orvieto, work of an extraordinary beauty realised with the
patient work of relevant handicraft men. The 15th century
is a great century for the art in Umbria, great artists
are born and come to the region: Giotto, Benozzo Gozzoli,
Perugino, Pinturicchio but also Raffaello and Rosso Fiorentino.
