Between Foligno and Spoleto
Foligno, on the Topino river, has always played an important
role of connection between the various communication roads.
Important medieval centre, it is during the 18th century
that it becomes characteristic under an architectonic and
stylish point of view thanks to the works of architects
such as Vanvitelli, Piermarini and Murena. Piazza of the
Republic is the heart of the city: it hosts Palazzo Trinci,
where are located art collections and of archaeology, and
the secondary façade of the cathedral. The cathedral,
built during the 12th century but transformed in several
occasions, has a beautiful door. Very beautiful, among the
others, the church of S. Maria Infraportas, 11th-12th centuries,
preserving the original structures and the Romanic belfry.
The characteristic village of Trevi is built on the edges
of a conic hill surrounded by olive trees that thanks to
their exposition, quality of the lands, microclimate are
producing an extraordinary olive oil. The cathedral of S.
Emiliano, built in the 12th century and then integrated
in an enlargement during the 15th century and important
restructurings of the 19th century, is the heart of the
village. For a visit in these beautiful areas, you can stay

became during the high middle ages the capital of the Duchy
of Lombardy. It is an extraordinary city, full of art and
history, place of the culture and of the meeting.

history, such as the splendid rose and the precious mosaics
representing the Redemptory blessing in throne between the
Madonna and San Giovanni Evangelist dating back to 1207.
