From Perugia
to Marsciano and Todi
Taking the Marscianese road you go through diverse villages
on the hills, extremely suggestive. The names are succeeding
one to the other, the belfries and fortresses are coming
out in the middle of the vineyards and grounds in a sweet
landscape made of small hills: San Martino Delfico, San
Fortunato, Boneggio, San Martino in colle, S. Enea, Castello
delle Forme. Each one of these have antique histories, beautiful
churches, small squares and little streets opened on beautiful

Montelagello, restructured during the course of the centuries,
is a defensive castle located at the border between the
territories of Orvieto and Perugia that belonged for a long
time to the Vincioli family. In Montelagello you can stay

house immerged in the green and in the quietness of this
part of Umbria, offering a serene and joyful landscape.
There is then Montevibiano Vecchio which history, together
with the one of Mercatello, was linked for a long time to
the family of the Vibi, listed in the 13th century among
the most important families of Perugia. Mercatello is characteristic,
with the “loggiato dei Vibi”, which portico
hosts columns from the Renaissance. Compignano and Migliano,
the first one famous for the history of its ovens, the other
one for its panoramas.
We arrive then to Marsciano, antique castle of Perugia,
and then to other extraordinary villages such as Fratta
Todina, Collazzone, Montecastello di Vibio. Montecastello,
splendid sentinel looking after a vast territory from the
top of its hill is famous for its small, elegant theatre.

Todi, beautiful city located on a hill where the Tevere
river is curving to go towards Orvieto, is the queen of
this territory, compact village with panoramic vertical
views opening themselves on a landscape of hills rich of
towers, countryside cities, splendid houses. Border city
between the lands of the Umbrian and the ones of the Etruscan
it has always played an important function of link. It is
concentrated around the piazza del Popolo dominated by the
church of S. Fortunato on the top of the hill. It has a
lot of other beautiful churches and rich palaces and just
outside of the walls the big complex of S. Maria della Consolation,
said to be the work of the Bramante.
