The high valley
of the Tevere River
In Città di Castello and in its territory there is
the tradition of the worked linen at ‘partridge eye’
with coloured stripes or the ‘Umbrian eyepiece’.
Another characteristic activity of the entire area is the
work of the wood and the fabrication of furnishing. The census
of 1881 was counting 115 wood workers on the Commune.

The tradition is still alive nowadays and Città di
Castello is famous for the production of the ‘stylish
furnishing’. To visit this very interesting area, you
can stop for a stay at the panoramic
PALAZZETTO
del MONTE. The art of the wrought iron is characterising
Montone. In this beautiful village along a hill between Gubbio
and Umbertide people has been practicing for centuries the
art of the blacksmiths, art that is still practiced in some
shops and during the last week end of May comes back to life
thanks to an historic evocation. The activities linked to
the forge of the iron are also remembering the military past
of the village, particularly linked to the figure of the famous
Braccio da Montone. At the
FATTORIA
DEL CERRETINO you can live one of the most characteristic
tradition of the region, the tradition, that now became an
art, of the homemade pasta that you can taste here and that
you can also learn to do with your hands.
