The Trasimeno Lake
and its surroundings
Around the Trasimeno and in a particular way in Panicale,
it is the embroidery that is taking the lead. The art of
curious and working women is born thanks to the intervention
of the noble woman Grifoni Belleschi who committed herself,
in the years ’20 of the 20th century, to propose the
reinterpretation of original techniques: centres of table,
tablecloths, handkerchiefs, linens and bride veils are the
most interesting manufactured products. A small Museum of
the tulle located in the ex church of Sant’Agostino
is collecting a lot of examples of this precious art.
Piegaro was and is famous for its stained glasses industries.
Founded by handicraftsmen coming from Venice, it supplied
among the others, the fabric of the cathedral of Orvieto
and the Court of the Montefeltro. In the past, up to not
such a long time ago, were important all the activities
linked to fishing and to the handicraft production of all
