From Perugia
to Marsciano and Todi
Going down the valley of Perugia towards Marsciano and
Todi one reaches the first part of the DOC area of the Martani
hills, included in the triangle Todi, Bettona, Spoleto:
here, above all in the area of Todi, predominates the Grechetto
for the white wines together with the Trebbiano, the Sangiovese
for the red wines.
Going higher and taking the Marscianese road, the suggestive
road made of hills and going through extended vineyards,
corn fields and sunflowers allows you to open your view
over a large territory sweetly curled, we arrive to the
DOC area of the Perugini hills. The road goes though and
next to antique villages, S. Martino Delfico, S. Fortunato,
S. Martino in Colle, Boneggio, S. Enea, S.Elena, Castello
delle Forme. In each one of these it is worth to stop a
little.
This is an Umbria a little bit aside, with less tourism
but where we can breathe a good odour, and it gives a deep
pleasure, relaxing on a bench, hearing the voices, following
the echo of the paths. Going through the little streets
of the past, you can admire a serene and prosperous countryside,
cultivated with care and passion.
If you are then curious to discover the methods of biologic
cultivation, you can visit the biologic firm Errore. Riferimento
a collegamento ipertestuale non valido., in 18th century
houses located along the street of the wine of the Cantico,
where you will be able to make guided tasting and discover
genuine and intense flavours.
The DOP oil of the Martani Mounts is a great extra virgin
obtained from the Moraiolo, S. Felice, Leccino, Frantoio
and other varieties.
You can taste an excellent version of it at the country
house FATTORIA
DEI COMIGNOLI where, in addition to the taste, is guaranteed
a serene stay at the contact of the nature.
