The Tevere high valley
Sailing up the Tevere river towards Città di Castello,
one of most interesting places to visit is the abbey of
Saint Salvatore di Montecorona
near
Umbertide, founded by Romualdo probably in 1007 and ruled
some years by saint Pier Damiani. This coenoby, including
the above hermitage, was the cradle of the Camaldolite Hermits
Order, founded by Beato Paolo Giustiniani. The monastic
community of Montecorona had a spread larger than the Camaldoli
one, with hermitages in Italy and some Europe countries.
If you are looking for a place that is immersed in the green
and in the silence of the sweet Umbrian hills, you can stay
at PALAZZETTO
del MONTE here a customer in a beautiful summer night
even counted a thousand stars, that fill not only the windows
but also the soul …
