The Apennine.
From Gubbio to Nocera Umbra
The valley going down from Gubbio towards Gualdo Tadino still
looks like a countryside coming from other times. It is enough
to go up on the hills to realise how rich is the botany,
the fauna and the landscape of this part of the Apennine.
Amazing are the walks along the valley of the Fonno with
its overhanging walls and its rare species of vegetation
or on the marvellous overhanging balcony going from the mount
Penna to Serrasanta; the Valsorda is magic with its extremely
green grasslands hosting abundant flowers, surrounded by
woods of beeches covering the round sides of the mounts,
above Gualdo.
Not to talk about one of the most beautiful mountain of
the Apennine, the mount Cucco, with its secular beeches,
its
peak with grasslands opened on the marvellous landscapes
of Umbria and Marche, the valley of the Prigioni, preserved
place made of glades and rocky walls overhanging on a gorge
dig out by the water, and then the famous caves, all beauties
that have made it become a regional park. In addition to
the descent inside the caves, here it is possible to make
exciting walks but above all very panoramic launches with
the hang-glider and the paragliding from a beautiful natural
terrace. In the “Forra di Rio Freddo”, on the
other side, it is very touching the descent in a unique
natural environment. Close to Nocera Umbra is located the
TORRE
di CORDAGLIE, 13th
tower with house in annex, in an idea position for walks
or mountain bike.
