The high valley
of the Tevere River
From Perugia we are going up the Tevere valley, and every
little lateral valley is an invitation you should accept.
The torrents nourishing the river are coming down from
hills rich of woods, splendid houses, little villages,
fantastic
stories. The narrow valley is amazing, almost a gorge,
that from Pierantonio-Umbertide through the road of the
Pantano
takes back to Perugia, stuck between the Tezio and another
mountain which is the silhouette characterising this part
of the region, the Mount Acuto.
Then up to Città di
Castello and the initial part of the Valtiberina, song
with great poetry by Plinio the Young, it is all a pleasure
for
the eyes and the heart. Also here there is only the difficulty
of the choice because everything is beautiful. In the country
house SANT’ILLUMINATO you can find all this and if you like the idea,
you can also benefit from the nearby aerodrome to try out
intense
emotions. The territory of Monte S. Maria Tiberina and
of the Favalto mount is a charming corner, splendid walks
between
secular chestnuts and small antique abandoned villages
leading towards Tuscany and opening worlds at each path.
On the other side, going up the valleys of the Apennines
going towards Bocca Trabaria, Parnacciano, Vallurbana, Bocca
Serriola means to breathe an air from other times, to cross
crowded woods rich of mushrooms, asparagus, blackberries,
meet droves cropping, men and women that still like to tell
their stories. At the FATTORIA
del CERRETINO, biologic firm surrounded by pines
and woods, you can discover the secrets of the nature and
of the herbs. The Tevere is accompanied by beautiful pathways
along which one an walk, make jogging, go cycling or horseback
riding. It is then interesting to go down the river in canoe
and to let you go to the prospective of water, trees and
birds extremely various and interesting. In the heart of
a splendid fauna firm, in the middle of roebucks and hares,
are suddenly appearing le
TORRI di BAGNARA, where you will discover, in addition
to the charming fascination of the marvellous medieval tower,
the heady flavours of the countryside and of the nature.
