The Trasimeno lake
and its surroundings
The Trasimeno Lake, with the sweet hills covered with
woods and olive trees surrounding it, is without any
doubt one
of the most characteristic environments of Umbria. All
the territory is covered by a narrow network of pathways,
of
antique white roads linking the different powers, bordered
by beautiful hedges of blackthorns, dogberries, hawthorns.
These pathways of the memory are leading to dozens of countryside
little churches, to towers, little villages, each of them
with its story, memories, talks, traditions. 
The environmental
value of the terracing located here is immense – as
it is in al the region – born to enable the cultivation
also on the most abrupt slopes, together with the little
sustaining walls built with the rocks taken from the fields.
Each season gives its precious fruits, the spring covers
the hills of brooms with their warm and comforting yellow
and with their strong fragrance, and the fields of heather
full of peace. Walking around the lake, from the peak of
each hill, coming out from secular evergreen oaks woods,
holms oaks, cork oaks, hornbeams, sorbs trees, elm trees
or from the little street or place of a medieval village,
you can see the blue lake, its three islands, Maggiore, Minore,
Polvese, microcosm forever inhabited by the man, pieces of
land floating on this world full of colours. If you want
to admire a charming panorama of the lake, you can stay at

the beautiful evergreen oaks wood of the Marzolana, behind
Sant’Arcangelo, to the Oasis the Valley between Monte
Buono and San Savino, humid protected area in a large creek,
characterised like all the shores of the Trasimeno by the
presence of the typical area where stop during the migrations – or
live all year long - coots, ducks, cormorants, grebes,
falcons of swamps, bitterns, herons.
The habitat is ideal, all the lake has an abundant feeding.
